Regular Season Round 16: Chartres - Avignon-Sorgues 65-56 OT

Date: January 10, 2015
Twelfth-ranked Sorgues BC (5-9) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked UB Chartres (10-4). UB Chartres managed to secure only nine-point victory 65-56. However their fans expected much easier game. Sorgues BC was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 21-10 third quarter run of UB Chartres. They tied the game at the end of regular time. Then they were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-3. UB Chartres forced 19 Sorgues BC turnovers. 30 personal fouls committed by Sorgues BC helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Pridotkas (200-84) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Ricky Franklin (185-87, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) supported him with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four UB Chartres players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds by Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Jonusas (201-82) did not help to save the game for Sorgues BC. American-British power forward Tafari Toney (202-86) added 11 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Sorgues BC's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UB Chartres moved-up to second place, which they share with Lourdes and Blois. Sorgues BC lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. UB Chartres' next round opponent will be league's leader Saint Chamond on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sorgues BC will play against GET Vosges (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
