Regular Season Round 11: KFI - Thor AK 71-77

Thor AK has finally registered their first victory this season after nine consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Isafjordur, where they defeated KFI (2-9) 77-71. KFI was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 26-17 charge of Thor AK, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 KFI turnovers. Strangely KFI outrebounded Thor AK 42-29 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by KFI helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Frisco Sandidge (198-87, college: Delaware St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Point guard Vic Ian Damasin (179-92) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and FYR Macedonian guard Pance Ilievski (186-81) added 23 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for KFI. KFI's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Thor AK maintains eighth place with 1-9 record. It was KFI's fourth loss in a row. They keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Thor AK's next round opponent will be higher ranked Valur (#6) in Reykjavik and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
