Regular Season Round 15: Asseco - Slask Wroclaw 67-60

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Slask (11-4) against eighth ranked Asseco (8-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Slask was defeated by Asseco in a tough game in Gdynia 60-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Slask. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-12. But Slask won second period 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Slask was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Lithuanian center Ovidijus Galdikas (217-88) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American point guard A.J. Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) contributed with 22 points and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Lawrence Kinnard (203-86, college: UAB) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and Serbian guard Vuk Radivojevic (196-83) added 15 points in the effort for Slask. Four Slask players scored in double figures. Slask's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Asseco maintains eighth place with 8-7 record. Slask at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Asseco will play against higher ranked AZS Koszalin (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Slask will play against Trefl in Sopot and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
