The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Kvarner as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Kvarner smashed 6th ranked Gorica in Rijeka 93-69. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-69. Kvarner forced 21 Gorica turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Forward Ivan Milicevic (204-97) fired 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Center Marijan Cakarun (204-90) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Kvarner's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward David Usic (206, college: Florida Tech) produced 15 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Roko Rogic (185-92) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Five Kvarner and four Gorica players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Newly promoted Gorica keeps the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Zabok. Gorica will play next round against Slavonski Brod trying to get back on the winning streak. Kvarner will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
