Regular Season Round 16: Civitanova - Marinella 59-67

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Civitanova's (6-8) home loss to fourth ranked Marinella (8-6) 59-67 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Civitanova won third quarter 17-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Civitanova was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Laura Gelfusa (186-79) fired 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Latvian forward Ieva Veinberga (185-84) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Center Licia Filippetti (185-86) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and guard Federica Iannucci (172-93) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Four Civitanova players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Marinella maintains fourth position in A2 with 8-6 record. Loser Civitanova keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Marinella will face higher ranked Irpino (#3) in Ariano Irpino in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Civitanova will play on the road against Salerno and hope to win that game.
