There was no surprise when 14th ranked Trieste (1-14) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Orvieto (4-11) 65-59. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-17. But Trieste won second period 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Orvieto forced 27 Trieste turnovers. Strangely Trieste outrebounded Orvieto 44-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Czech center Renata Brezinova (190-90, agency: LBM Management) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Kirby Burkholder (183, college: JMU, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. American center Akila McDonald (193-91, college: S.Florida) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Giuditta Nicolodi (185-95, agency: Players Group) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Trieste in the defeat. Trieste's coach Nevio Giuliani rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Orvieto moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Lavezzini PR. Trieste lost their thirteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Orvieto's next round opponent will be higher ranked Lucca (#7) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Trieste will play against the league's second-placed Familia Schio (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
