BJ League top team - Akita Happinets (24-4) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Saitama Broncos (1-25) 102-87. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 15 points. It was a great shooting night for Akita Happinets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. 24 personal fouls committed by Saitama Broncos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a quality performance of American swingman Richard Roby (198-85) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) who added 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Five Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Ari Stewart (201-90, college: USC) responded with 30 points and 8 rebounds and Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Saitama Broncos' coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Akita Happinets have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 24-4 record. Saitama Broncos lost twenty third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 25 games lost. Akita Happinets are looking forward to face Sendai 89ers (#4) on the road in the next round. Saitama Broncos will play against Niigata Albirex (#5) and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
