There was a surprise result when seventeenth ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (4-12) beat higher ranked CB Canarias (6-10) in Madrid 83-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. CB Canarias was better in second period 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Andy Panko (204-77, college: Lebanon Valley, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Montenegrin center Blagota Sekulic (210-82) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds and forward Javier Beiran (200-87) added 8 points in the effort for CB Canarias. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with La Bruixa d'Or. CB Canarias lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with ten games lost. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada will face higher ranked Valencia Basket (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
