Regular Season Round 31: TianJin S. - Guangdong ST 114-126

Not a big story in a game in Tianjin where 13th ranked TianJin Steel (11-20) was defeated by second ranked Guandong Tigers (27-3) 126-114 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. TianJin Steel managed to win third quarter 33-29. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers made 27-of-34 free shots (79.4 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 60.7 percentage. It was a great evening for the former international FangYu Zhu (201-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 5 rebounds. American point guard Will Bynum (183-83, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) helped adding 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side American point guard Dwight Buycks (191-89, college: Marquette) responded with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Zhihan Zhang (198-91) scored 30 points. Five Guandong Tigers and four TianJin Steel players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Guandong Tigers have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. They maintain second place with 27-3 record having 2 victories less than leader Liaoning H. TianJin Steel at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Guandong Tigers will meet at home Jiangsu TX (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. TianJin Steel will play against Bayi Rockets (#18) in Ningbo and hope to secure a win.
