Regular Season Round 31: Foshan LL - Shandong FB 118-112

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Foshan and 11th ranked Shandong Bulls had identical 14-16 record. This time Foshan used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Jinan 118-112 on Sunday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 36-24. But Shandong Bulls won second period 33-28. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Foshan won last quarter 28-23. They made 27-of-30 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Foshan made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for Lebanese swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) helped adding 28 points and 6 assists. At the losing side American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) responded with 29 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and international center HanLin Tao (208-91) scored 27 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Shandong Bulls' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Foshan maintains tenth place with 15-16 record. Shandong Bulls lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 17 games lost. They share it with Shanghai S.. Foshan will meet at home higher ranked Qingdao Eagles (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shandong Bulls will play against Sichuan BW (#19) and hope to secure a win.
