Regular Season Round 16: Bologna - Salerno 78-59

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Salerno (1-13) was crushed on the road by second ranked Bologna (12-2) 78-59 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-59. Bologna dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Salerno's 30. Bologna forced 26 Salerno turnovers. The former international point guard Raelin D'Alie (168-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: LBM Management) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Ilenia Cordola (183-96) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Bologna players scored in double figures. Paraguayan swingman Tamara Insfran (175-89, college: Cumberland) produced 27 points and 5 steals and center Camilla Ardito (183-89) added 6 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Salerno's coach Alex Blanco let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Bologna maintains second position in A2 with 12-2 record behind leader Ferrara. Loser Salerno keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Bologna will face Roma SRB (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Salerno will play against Civitanova and hope to win that game.
