Regular Season Round 15: AV Cantu - Virtus Acea 60-70

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked AV Cantu (6-9) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Acea (6-9) 70-60 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-60. Acea dominated on the defensive end, holding AV Cantu to just 6 points in second quarter. It was a great evening for American guard Kyle Gibson (196-87, college: Louisiana Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. American-Guinean forward Robert Jones (201-84, college: Washington) helped adding 14 points. The best for the losing side was international point guard Stefano Gentile (191-89) with 17 points and Croatian power forward Ivan Buva (208-91) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. AV Cantu's coach Stefano Sacripanti tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Acea moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated AV Cantu. Acea will face bottom-ranked Juvecaserta (#16) in Caserta in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
