Regular Season Round 16: Real Madrid - Laboral Kutxa 75-74
Date: January 11, 2015
Very expected game when 11th ranked Laboral Kutxa (7-9) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Real Madrid (12-4) 75-74 on Sunday. However just one-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 18-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Real Madrid made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Laboral Kutxa was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for international Sergio Llull (191-87) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 assists. The former international Felipe Reyes (205-80) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. French Fabien Causeur (194-87) replied with 12 points and 4 assists and Dutch-French Kim Tillie (211-88, college: Utah, agency: Priority Sports) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Laboral Kutxa. Four Laboral Kutxa players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Real Madrid moved-up to second place, which they share with FIATC Joventut and Bilbao Basket. Loser Laboral Kutxa keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Real Madrid will face La Bruixa d'Or (#17) in Manresa in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Laboral Kutxa will play at home against Blusens Monbus (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
