Cagliari CUS (7-8) survived in overtime against Napoli (8-7) by three points 70-67 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Napoli. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 16-15 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 3-point victory in overtime. Cagliari CUS made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Napoli turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Tricia Liston (185-92, college: Duke) who led her team to a victory scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. Naturalized Serbian guard Milica Micovic (182-84, agency: Players Group) helped adding 17 points and 6 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The best for the losing side was American center Victoria Macaulay (193-90, college: Temple, agency: Two Points) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Chiara Pastore (171-86) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Cagliari CUS moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Battipaglia. Newly promoted Napoli keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Lucca. Cagliari CUS will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Napoli will play against San Martino (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
