Twelfth-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (3-12) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Hapoel Holon (9-6) on Monday. Hapoel Holon managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 11-10 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 2-point victory in overtime. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for Tony Crocker (201-87, college: Oklahoma) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Dominic McGuire (206-85, college: Fresno St.) accounted for 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and forward James Nunnally (201-90, college: UCSB) added 24 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Maccabi Ashdod in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hapoel Holon. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Maccabi Rishon. Maccabi Ashdod lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Hapoel Holon will meet Maccabi Rishon (#5) in the next round. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hapoel Eilat (#7) and hope to secure a win.
