Regular Season Round 18: Snaefell - KR 63-58

Leader Snaefell delivered the fifteenth victory. This time they beat 6th ranked KR (3-13) 63-58 in Stykkisholmur. The hosts were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 24-15 KR's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 63-58 at the end of the game. Snaefell dominated on the defensive end, holding KR to just 7 points in first quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to KR's 20. Snaefell forced 26 KR turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for American swingman Kristen McCarthy (182-90, college: Temple) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Hildur Sigurdardottir (178-81) contributed with 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Simone Holmes replied with 26 points and 9 rebounds and guard Bjorg Einarsdottir (162-92) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for KR. Snaefell (15-1) have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. KR lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 13 games lost. Snaefell will play against Valur (#5) in Reykjavik in the next round. KR will play at home against the league's second-placed Keflavik and hopes to get back on the winning track.
