Regular Season Round 32: Shanghai S. - Fujian QB 103-100
Date: January 14, 2015
Sixteenth-ranked Fujian (8-24) was very close to win a game against twelfth ranked Shanghai Sharks (15-17) on Wednesday. Shanghai Sharks managed to secure only three-point victory 103-100. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 53-48 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Shanghai Sharks outrebounded Fujian 54-31 including a 22-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American power forward Bernard James (208-85, college: Florida St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds and the other American import forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) supported him with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Shanghai Sharks' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 36 points (!!!) and 8 assists by American point guard John Lucas III (180-82, college: Oklahoma St.) did not help to save the game for Fujian. International Zhelin Wang (215-94) added 20 points and 12 rebounds for the guests. Five Shanghai Sharks and four Fujian players scored in double figures. Shanghai Sharks moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Shandong FB and Foshan LL. Fujian at the other side keeps the sixteenth position with 24 games lost. Shanghai Sharks will meet at home higher ranked DongGuan Leopards (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fujian will play against Foshan (#10) and hope to secure a win.
