No shocking result in a game when thirteenth ranked TianJin Steel (12-20) beat 18th ranked Bayi Rockets (6-26) in Ningbo 106-98 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 106-98. TianJin Steel made 30-of-35 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Bayi Rockets turnovers. The winners were led by American point guard Dwight Buycks (191-89, college: Marquette) who scored that evening 22 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals and the other American import forward Shelden Williams (206-83, college: Duke) supported him with 21 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Even 25 points and 6 rebounds by forward Junlin Wang (200-93) did not help to save the game for Bayi Rockets. Forward Yuchen Zou (197-96) added 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks for the hosts. Four TianJin Steel and five Bayi Rockets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. TianJin Steel maintains thirteenth position with 12-20 record. Bayi Rockets lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighteenth place with 26 games lost. TianJin Steel will meet Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (#15) in the next round. Bayi Rockets will play against Jiangsu TX and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
