Date: January 14, 2015
The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Beijing Ducks' (24-8) home victory over 5th ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (22-10) 126-101 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Beijing Ducks. Shanxi Zhongyu managed to win third quarter 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Beijing Ducks shot 60.3 percent from the field. Beijing Ducks outrebounded Shanxi Zhongyu 43-31 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 60.7 percentage. Beijing Ducks looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. American players dominated the game. The winners were led by power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) supported him with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists. Even a double-double of 36 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds by forward Jeremy Tyler (208-91, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for Shanxi Zhongyu. Guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) added 18 points and 12 assists for the guests. Five Beijing Ducks and four Shanxi Zhongyu players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Beijing Ducks have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 24-8 record. Shanxi Zhongyu at the other side keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Xinjiang FT and Guangsha L.. Beijing Ducks will meet at home Xinjiang Flying Tige (#5) in the next round. Shanxi Zhongyu will play against Jilin Tigers in Changchun and hope to secure a win.
