Regular Season Round 13: Stjarnan - Keflavik 99-92

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Stjarnan and 3rd placed Keflavik had identical 7-5 record. This time Stjarnan used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Keflavik 99-92 on Thursday night. Keflavik trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 30-26 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 92-99 at the end of the game. Stjarnan made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Stjarnan outrebounded Keflavik 42-25 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Justin Shouse (181-81, college: Mercyhurst) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Marvin Valdimarsson (198-81) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Stjarnan players scored in double figures. American guard Davon Usher (198-92, college: Delaware) answered with 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Throstur Johannsson (198-89) added 20 points in the effort for Keflavik. Keflavik's coach Helgi Jonas Gudfinnsson rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Stjarnan (8-5) moved-up to third place. Keflavik at the other side dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Stjarnan will face Grindavik (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Keflavik will play against Thor Thorl (#7) and hope to win that game.
