Regular Season Round 14: Sallen - Visby 88-82
Date: January 17, 2015
Very predictable result in Uppsala where third ranked Sallen (11-3) defeated 9th ranked Visby Ladies (4-10) 88-82 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But Visby Ladies won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sallen forced 28 Visby Ladies turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian Dajana Butulija (176-86, agency: Interperformances) who scored 19 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. The former international center Katarina Andersson (191-83) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Croatian guard Tea Buzov (176-90) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and Oaks Patricia added 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Five Sallen and four Visby Ladies players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sallen maintains third position with 11-3 record having just one point less than leader Umea. Loser Visby Ladies keep the ninth place with ten games lost. Sallen will meet at home league's second-placed Northland in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Visby Ladies will play against Akropol (#10) in Spanga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
