Second Stage Round 3: Rubon - BGU Minsk 101-64

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Rubon's (8-6) home victory over BGU Minsk (5-8) in Vitebsk 101-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rubon. BGU Minsk was better in third quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rubon forced 21 BGU Minsk turnovers and outrebounded them 55-26 including a 41-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 65.0 percentage. Rubon looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by BGU Minsk's players. It was a good game for forward Marsel Ovsepian (202-90) who led his team to a victory with 8 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists. Yahor Patupchik (191-94) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Cuban forward Darol Hernandez (206-89) answered with 26 points and 7 rebounds and forward Roman Gladkih (200-96) added 21 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for BGU Minsk. Rubon will face Borisfen (#4) in Mogilev in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BGU Minsk will play on the road against Grodno-93 and hope to win that game.
