Regular Season Round 17: Nanterre - ASVEL 76-65

There was no surprise when 8th ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (8-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked JSF Nanterre (14-3) 76-65 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 11 points. JSF Nanterre looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Kyle Weems (198-89, college: Missouri St.) who scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import Mykal Riley (198-85, college: Alabama) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Mali forward Amara Sy (202-81, agency: Comsport) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Ahmad Nivins (206-87, college: St.Joseph's) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. JSF Nanterre have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Limoges and Strasbourg. Loser ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. JSF Nanterre will meet league's leader Limoges CSP Elite on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
