Regular Season Round 17: Castello - Zornotza 107-99

Leader Castello delivered the fourteenth victory. This time they beat 5th ranked Zornotza (9-7) 107-99 in Castellon. Zornotza was ahead by 5 points after three quarters before a 35-22 charge of Castello, which allowed them to win the game. They outrebounded Zornotza 41-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Castello players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American center Nick Washburn (208-91, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Manuel Rodriguez (192-91) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Washburn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Castello players scored in double figures. American guard Tre Bowman (196-91, college: Iona) answered with 30 points and 4 assists and Serbian forward Sasa Borovnjak (206-89, college: Penn St.) added 22 points (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) in the effort for Zornotza. Castello maintains first place with 14-2 record. Zornotza at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Cambados. Castello will play against Fuenlabrada (#9) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zornotza will play at home against Meridiano Alicante (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
