There was no surprise in Zacatecas where 14th ranked Barreteros (6-23) were defeated by third ranked Soles (22-10) 96-80. Barreteros were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 52-35 second half run of Soles. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Barreteros' 46. Soles had a 36-25 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Ghanian-British forward Matthew Bryan-Amaning (205-88, college: Washington) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Zach Graham (198-89, college: Mississippi) supported him with 24 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Soles' coach Ivan Deniz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 28 points by American Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) did not help to save the game for Barreteros. Spanish guard Marc Cuesta (190-89) added 13 points and 4 assists for the hosts. Four Barreteros players scored in double figures. Soles maintains third position with 22-10 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Halc.Rojos. Newly promoted Barreteros stay dead last with 23 lost games. Soles' next round opponent will be league's leader Halcones Rojos in Veracruz and it will be for sure the game of the week. Barreteros will play on the road against Titanicos (#9) in Leon and hope to win that game.
