Regular Season Round 27: Handlova - Nitra 92-64
Date: January 17, 2015
Very expected game when 10th ranked Nitra (3-23) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Handlova (15-12) 92-64. The game without a history. Handlova led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 27-of-32 charity shots (84.4 percent) during the game. Handlova forced 23 Nitra turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nitra was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for Montenegrin-Serbian center Milovan Savic (205-87) who led the winners and scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Croatian swingman Luka Drezga (196-87, agency: XL Basketball Agency) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Four Handlova players scored in double figures. The former international Roman Vido (204-88) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Justin Ward (203-91, college: Lakeland) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Nitra in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Handlova have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 15-12 record. Nitra lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Handlova will play against Nova Ves (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Nitra will play against Karlovka in Bratislava and hopes to get back on the winning track.
