Regular Season Round 29: Fukuoka Rizing - Shimane SM 72-70

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Shimane Magic (8-19) was edged on the road by tenth ranked Fukuoka Rizing (7-20) 72-70 on Saturday. Shimane Magic was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) who scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. Forward Isiah Brown (203-89, college: E.Tenn.St.) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) added 9 points and 15 rebounds respectively for the guests. Fukuoka Rizing moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Takamatsu FA. Loser Shimane Magic keeps the eighth position with 19 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will face again higher ranked Shimane Magic (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
