Regular Season Round 17: Catz - ViVe 80-57

SM-sarja top team - Catz Lappeenranta (16-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked ViVe (6-11) 80-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of ViVe. The game was mostly controlled by Catz Lappeenranta. ViVe was better in fourth quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ViVe to just 4 points in first quarter. Catz Lappeenranta dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to ViVe's 30. Catz Lappeenranta forced 23 ViVe turnovers. American swingman Alexandria Anderson (186-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Regeneracom Sports) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and Russian forward Elena Reshetko (184-86) accounted for 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. American forward Breanna Salley (180-87, college: Seattle) came up with 18 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import center Alexandra Stelfox (187) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for ViVe in the defeat. ViVe's coach Jukka-Pekka Kujala gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. Newly promoted ViVe keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Honka. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Pyrinto (#6) in Tampere in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. ViVe will play at home against the league's second-placed Peli-Karhut and hopes to get back on the winning track.
