Very predictable result in Helsinki where fourth ranked Torpan Pojat (11-5) smashed bottom-ranked TuRi (2-15) 91-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Torpan Pojat. TuRi managed to win fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding TuRi to just 6 points in third quarter. Torpan Pojat dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to TuRi's 28. The best player for the winners was international forward Dionne Pounds (174-84, college: Lamar, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. International swingman Heta Korpivaara (186-84, college: Seton Hall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Shafontaye Myers (173-92, college: Alabama) produced 19 points and the other American import guard Amber Moore (180-90, college: Illinois) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Torpan Pojat. They maintain fourth place with 11-5 record. TuRi lost their thirteenth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Torpan Pojat will meet HyPo (#5) in the next round. TuRi will play against Aanekosken (#3) and hope to secure a win.
