Bottom-ranked Amazone (0-15) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 15th consecutive match to sixth ranked Grasshoppers (5-10) 68-55 on Saturday evening. Grasshoppers forced 20 Amazone turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including 16 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Grasshoppers made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was guard Inez van Hulsen (167-94) who scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Fleur Kuijt chipped in 16 points. Four Grasshoppers players scored in double figures. Forward Rosa Hof (182-93) produced 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Sayna Azad added 3 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Grasshoppers maintains sixth place with 5-10 record. Newly promoted Amazone still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Grasshoppers will meet at home higher ranked Den Helder (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Amazone will play against CTO in Amsterdam and hopes to get finally their first victory.
