Regular Season Round 16: Chanson V-M - Denso Iris 77-38

There was a change at the WJBL leadership position after last games. Round 16 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Denso Iris (12-3). They were crushed by fifth ranked Chanson V-M (11-4) 77-38 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Denso Iris. The game without a history. Chanson V-M led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Denso Iris to just 4 points in second quarter and to 12 points in first half. Chanson V-M held Denso Iris to an opponent 20.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.3 percent accuracy of the winners and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Chanson V-M outrebounded Denso Iris 47-21 including a 38-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chanson V-M made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of international forward Sanae Motokawa (175-92) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and the former international power forward Yuka Watanabe (181-81) who added 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international guard Tomomi Tanaka (173-89) responded with 5 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and international guard Shiori Takada (171-92) scored 5 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chanson V-M maintains fifth position with 11-4 record. Denso Iris at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Toyota A.. They were replaced at the leadership position by Fujitsu RW. Denso Iris will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Chanson V-M will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Denso Iris in Kariya.
