No shocking result in a game in Badalona where third ranked FIATC Joventut (13-4) won against bottom-ranked Sevilla (3-14) 75-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by FIATC Joventut. Sevilla managed to win fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Sevilla outrebounded FIATC Joventut 41-29 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Demond Mallet (184-78, college: McNeese St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) who scored 16 points and 4 assists. The former international center Albert Miralles (206-82, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four FIATC Joventut players scored in double figures. Latvian power forward Kristaps Porzingis (215-95) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and American-Ivorian swingman Derrick Byars (201-84, college: Vanderbilt) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. FIATC Joventut have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Real Madrid. Sevilla lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. FIATC Joventut will meet at home CAI Zaragoza (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sevilla will play against CB Canarias (#12) in Tenerife and hope to secure a win.
