Fifth-ranked Anagenisi (6-8) made lots of trouble for third ranked Panathinaikos (13-1). The visitors from Athens managed to secure only three-point victory 65-62. However their fans expected easier game. Panathinaikos made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American guard Niki Avery (168-86, college: E.Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds. American power forward Monique Oliver (188-91, college: Rutgers) contributed with 9 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international guard Nafsika Stavridou (182-86) answered with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Asia Logan (183-92, college: Pittsburgh) added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Anagenisi. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Panathinaikos. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with AE Ellinikou. Anagenisi at the other side keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Panathinaikos will play against Proteas (#3) in Voula in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Anagenisi will play on the road against Athinaikos in Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
