Regular Season Round 12: Breidablik - KFI 81-94

There was a minor upset in Kopavogur where 5th ranked Breidablik (4-6) was defeated by seventh ranked KFI (3-10) 94-81 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by KFI. Breidablik managed to win second period 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KFI forced 20 Breidablik turnovers. Strangely Breidablik outrebounded KFI 40-27 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian swingman Nebojsa Knezevic (196-87) who helped to win the game recording 43 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (on 15-of-18 shooting from the field) and FYR Macedonian guard Pance Ilievski (186-81) who added 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. KFI's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was forward Egill Vignisson (198-91) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and forward Palmi Geir Jonsson (196-93) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. KFI maintains seventh position with 3-10 record. Loser Breidablik dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. KFI will meet higher ranked Valur (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Breidablik will play against the league's leader Hottur where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
