Not a big story in a game in San Sebastian where 14th ranked Gipuzkoa (6-11) was defeated by eighth ranked CAI Zaragoza (10-7) 76-61 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by CAI Zaragoza. Gipuzkoa managed to win fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Gipuzkoa 37-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Landry (201-85, college: Wisconsin) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Jason Robinson (198-80, college: Pikeville) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Four CAI Zaragoza players scored in double figures. Power forward Daniel Diez (202-93) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist) added 5 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. CAI Zaragoza moved-up to sixth place, which they share with G.Canaria 2014 and Valencia. Loser Gipuzkoa dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Estudiantes. CAI Zaragoza will meet higher ranked FIATC Joventut (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gipuzkoa will play against Asefa Estudiantes (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
