An interesting game for Akita Happinets (25-5) which played road game in Sendai against 4th ranked Sendai 89ers (18-10). First ranked Akita Happinets managed to get a 9-point victory 84-75. It looked good early as Sendai 89ers took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Akita Happinets had a 25-12 second period charge getting the lead and Sendai 89ers were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-84. American players dominated the game. Swingman Richard Roby (198-85) had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) chipped in 12 points and 19 rebounds during the contest. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: KMG Sports Management) with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Akita Happinets maintains first position with 25-5 record. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the fourth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Niigata Albirex. Akita Happinets will play against Fukushima (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sendai 89ers will play against Niigata Albirex (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
