Date: January 18, 2015
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when seventh ranked Castellammare (6-9) crushed on the road 6th ranked Viterbo (5-9) 78-48 on Sunday. The game without a history. Castellammare led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Castellammare forced 21 Viterbo turnovers and outrebounded them 51-26 including a 39-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Viterbo was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Bulgarian power forward Diana Voynova (194-88, college: Duquesne) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Nadia Calamai (172-86) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Castellammare players scored in double figures. Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Ludovica Chimenz (186-90) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Viterbo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Castellammare moved-up to sixth place in A2. Loser Viterbo dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Castellammare will face league's leader Bologna at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Viterbo will play against Irpino (#3) in Ariano Irpino and hope to win that game.
