Very expected game when 8th ranked Le Portel (8-8) lost at home to fourth ranked Monaco (11-4) 85-80 on Tuesday. Le Portel was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Quite impressive performance for American point guard Darrel Mitchell (181-84, college: LSU) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 4 assists. American-Nigerian Derrick Obasohan (203-81, college: Texas Arlington, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Monaco's coach Savo Vucevic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international Gary Chathuant (192-83) replied with 23 points and American center Jakim Donaldson (203-83, college: Edinboro) added 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Le Portel. Four Monaco and five Le Portel players scored in double figures. Monaco have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Loser Le Portel keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Monaco will face Nantes (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Le Portel will play against Souffelweyersheim and hope to win that game.
