Regular Season Round 16: Lille - Nantes 77-78 OT

Lille Metropole (#14) forced the game against Nantes (#11) into an overtime, but lost by one point 77-78 on Tuesday night. The game took place in Lille. But the guests from Nantes were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lille Metropole won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Lille Metropole used huge pressure winning it 20-16 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-10. Nantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Lille Metropole was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American power forward Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Naturalized Mali swingman Souarata Cisse (196-86) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) replied with 32 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Chrislain Cairo (200-91) added 15 points in the effort for Lille Metropole. Lille Metropole's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nantes (8-8) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Evreux and Le Portel. Loser Lille Metropole dropped to the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Nantes will face higher ranked Monaco (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Lille Metropole will play against Fos Ouest (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
