Regular Season Round 18: Reggio Calabr. - Recanati 68-86

We should not miss a road victory of seventh ranked Recanati (10-8) who defeated one of their biggest challengers Reggio Calabr. (11-7) by 18 points 86-68. After very bad start, Reggio Calabr. stormed back in the second period cutting the deficit to 3 points 35-32. But it was not enough and Recanati took back the control in second half. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Reggio Calabr. to just 6 points in third quarter. The best player for the winners was American guard Isaiah Sykes (198-91, college: Cent.Florida) who scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Naturalized Senegalese guard Ousmane Gueye (188-82) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Recanati's coach Giancarlo Sacco allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Michael Deloach (183-86, college: Norfolk St.) who recorded 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 19 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Recanati moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ferrara and Tortona. Reggio Calabr. at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Recanati's next round opponent will be Roseto (#13) at home and are hoping to win another game. Reggio Calabr. will play against Treviglio (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
