Fifteenth-ranked Rio Claro (3-13) gave a tough game to tenth ranked Palmeiras (8-8) in Sao Paulo. Palmeiras managed to secure only three-point victory 101-98. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rio Claro won fourth quarter 31-29. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Palmeiras made 22-of-24 charity shots (91.7 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for guard Arlindo Neto (187-86) who helped to win the game recording 24 points. Italian-Argentinian point guard Maximiliano Stanic (178-78, agency: Players Group) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. The former international guard Eduardo Machado (193-82) replied with 24 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and power forward Anderson Mosso (205-82, college: Chipola JC) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Rio Claro. Five Palmeiras and four Rio Claro players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Palmeiras moved-up to ninth place. Rio Claro lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Palmeiras' next round opponent will be league's leader Winner/Limeira at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Rio Claro will play against Pinheiros (#10) in Sao Paolo and hope to win that game.
