Regular Season Round 23: Toshiba BT - Tsukuba R. 89-63

Bottom-ranked Tsukuba R. is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 25th consecutive match to third ranked Toshiba Thunders (16-8) 89-63 on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Tsukuba R. managed to win fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Tsukuba R.'s players. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) accounted for 7 points and 4 assists for the winning side. American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Duke Crews (203-88, college: Bowie St.) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Tsukuba R. in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toshiba Thunders have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 16-8 record having just -15 point less than leader Hitachi SR. Loser Tsukuba R. still closes the standings with 25 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will meet at home Toyota Alvark (#4) in the next round. Tsukuba R. will have a break next round.
