Regular Season Round 23: Toyota Alvark - Hokkaido L. 77-59

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Toyota Alvark's (14-9) home victory over 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (5-21) in Tokyo 77-59. It looked good early as Hokkaido L. took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toyota Alvark had a 16-9 second period charge getting the lead and Hokkaido L. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-77. The best player for the winners was American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 16 rebounds and guard Tomokazu Abe (180-85) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyota Alvark moved-up to fourth place. Hokkaido L. lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 21 games lost. Toyota Alvark's next round opponent will be higher ranked Toshiba Thunders (#3) in Kanagawa and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hokkaido L. will play at home against the league's leader Hitachi Sunrockers and hope to win that game.
