Regular Season Round 33: Shanghai S. - DongGuan L. 100-108

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked DongGuan Leopards (22-11) beat on the road 12th ranked Shanghai Sharks (15-18) 108-100 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 31-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Shanghai Sharks were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) stepped up and scored 41 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) chipped in 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. DongGuan Leopards' coach Brian Goorjian used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was American forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import power forward Bernard James (208-85, college: Florida St.) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Four DongGuan Leopards and five Shanghai Sharks players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for DongGuan Leopards. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Shanghai Sharks dropped to the eleventh position with 18 games lost. DongGuan Leopards will face league's second-placed Guandong Tigers in Dongguan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shanghai Sharks will play on the road against Foshan (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
