Regular Season Round 16: Uberlandia - Mogi das Cruzes 80-86

Date: January 21, 2015
Very predictable result in Uberlandia where seventh ranked Mogi (10-6) defeated 13th ranked Unitri (4-11) 86-80 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 17 points after three quarters before their 34-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Mogi made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Unitri was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and American forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) who added 13 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international Luis Felipe Gruber (206-85) responded with 24 points and the former international point guard Helio Vitor Lima (185-81) scored 19 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Mogi have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Vivo/Franca. Unitri lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Mogi will face higher ranked Minas (#3) in Belo Horizonte in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Unitri will play at home against Sao Jose/Vinac (#7) and hope to win that game.
