Regular Season Round 18: Trieste - Sigma BRC 75-69

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Trieste (10-8) defeated at home 10th ranked Sigma Barcellona (7-10) 75-69. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as Sigma Barcellona took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Trieste had a 23-10 second period charge getting the lead and Sigma Barcellona was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-75. Trieste forced 20 Sigma Barcellona turnovers and outrebounded them 44-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 9 rebounds. International Stefano Tonut (194-93) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Luca Garri (207-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 16 rebounds and Canadian-Jamaican swingman Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Sigma Barcellona. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trieste maintains sixth position with 10-8 record, which they share with Angelico BI. Sigma Barcellona at the other side dropped to the ninth place with ten games lost. Trieste's next round opponent will be Angelico Biella (#7) on the road. Sigma Barcellona will play against FCM Ferentino and hope to win that game.
