Regular Season Round 28: Karlovka - Nitra 80-59

There was no surprise in Bratislava where 10th ranked Nitra (3-24) was crushed by sixth ranked Karlovka (12-16) 80-59. The game was mostly controlled by Karlovka. Nitra was better in second period 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karlovka shot 29 for 39 from the free-throw line, while Nitra only scored two points from the stripe. 29 personal fouls committed by Nitra helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Lukaas Hoferica who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and center Ivan Zidzik (208-90, college: NW Nazarene) supported him with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Karlovka players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds by the former international Roman Vido (204-88) did not help to save the game for Nitra. point guard Lukas Bukovic (187-91) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Karlovka moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Iskra Svit. Nitra lost fourth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 24 lost games. Karlovka's next round opponent will be Iskra Svit (#5) on the road. Nitra will play against Nova Ves (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
