Regular Season Round 19: KR - Keflavik 50-76
Date: January 21, 2015
The game in Reykjavik supposed to be also worth to mention about. Second ranked Keflavik (14-3) played at the court of 6th ranked KR (3-14). Keflavik smashed KR 76-50. It looked good early as KR took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Keflavik had a 28-8 second period charge getting the lead and KR was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 50-76. They outrebounded KR 50-31 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Carmen Tyson-Thomas (175-91, college: Syracuse, agency: Two Points) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. International guard Marin Laufey Davidsdottir (172-94) chipped in 15 points. Four Keflavik players scored in double figures. Simone Holmes produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and Holton Tomasdottir Bergthora added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Keflavik. They maintain second place with 14-3 record having just two points less than leader Snaefell. KR lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Keflavik's next round opponent will be league's leader Snaefell in Stykkisholmur and it will be for sure the game of the week. KR will play on the road against Grindavik (#3) and hope to win that game.
