Regular Season Round 16: Hawks - 36ers 85-89

Everything went according to plan in Gwynneville where fifth ranked Adelaide 36ers (12-11) beat bottom-ranked Wollongong Hawks (3-19) 89-85 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Wollongong Hawks won fourth quarter 24-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Wollongong Hawks 46-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Brock Motum (207-90, college: Washington St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and American point guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany) who added 17 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Adelaide 36ers' coach Joey Wright used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side swingman Timothy Coenraad (201-85, college: Nova SE) responded with 20 points and the former international forward Oscar Forman (205-82) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Adelaide 36ers and four Wollongong Hawks players scored in double figures. Adelaide 36ers have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Wollongong Hawks lost seventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Adelaide 36ers will face Townsville Crocodiles (#7) in Wulguru in the next round. Wollongong Hawks will play on the road against the league's second-placed Cairns Taipans and hope to win that game.
