Regular Season Round 17: Le Portel - Souffel 83-68

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Souffelweyersheim (5-12) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Le Portel (9-8) 83-68 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Le Portel. Souffelweyersheim managed to win fourth quarter 26-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Souffelweyersheim to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Souffelweyersheim 38-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American center Jakim Donaldson (203-83, college: Edinboro) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Polish forward Mathieu Wojciechowski (203-92) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Le Portel players scored in double figures. American swingman Daviin Davis (193-85, college: Weber St.) produced 14 points and Kevin Dinal (202-93) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Le Portel moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Evreux. Souffelweyersheim lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 12 games lost. Le Portel will meet Saint-Quentin (#11) on the road in the next round. Souffelweyersheim will play against Fos Ouest (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
